Several gaming news sites have commented that because the Demon’s Souls Remake was released at the Future of Gaming event, it’s a PS5 exclusive. This may be true but before it’s confirmed as fact, more reputable sources are being pursued. As you can see in the above video by YouTube creator PanFro Games, some builds with the Meat Cleaver are incredibly broken because of how the weapon can continuously stagger enemies, preventing them from ever striking back. Featuring a design that looks inspired by Pyramid Head’s sword from the Silent Hill franchise, the Meat Cleaver packs a hefty punch in its oversized blade.
Moore also confirmed that Demon’s Souls love-it-or-hate-it World Tendency system will come back as-is in the remake. In the original, the game’s World Tendency shifted from black to white, depending on your actions. World Tendency’s level of light or darkness would cause certain events to happen as the tendency changed. And when played online, the actions of all players in aggregate affect the tendency, which can make the game unpredictable. But there is one small change that veteran Demon’s Souls players will welcome.
While no weapon works the same in all scenarios, numerous weapons rise above their peers in terms of utility. As you war through Bluepoint Games’ remake of Demon’s Souls, you should take care not to miss these outstanding weapons. Every texture in Demon’s Souls has been painstakingly repainted, sometimes to the point of questionable reinterpretation. Every stilted animation appears to have been replaced by three or four new ones, all of them remixed with more lifelike flourishes. Many of the original game’s points of aggravation, like long load times and frequent backtracking, have been softened or nearly eliminated.
Pick Up The Perfect Starting Weapon
The PS3 original still holds up well – flat walls aside – but the turnout of the PS5 remake delivers an almost painterly quality. Lit from above, the chamber and enemy texture materials are again completely reworked to support a new lighting engine. The geometric mesh is updated to put emphasis on its wing size, with neat decorative extras that again tells its story in a new way. For example, arms are covered in broken metal links that imply some kind of restraint was broken.
Boss #4 – Adjudicator
After taking the first elevator, players will find a Fat Official guarding a balcony. Once the Official is killed, players can access the balcony and retrieve the Crushing Battle Axe +1. Since the Crushing Battle Axe is a Strength weapon, players should stick to a Strength build if they plan on upgrading it further. The Clever Rat’s Ring can be used to increase the weapon’s damage while the player’s HP is low. Dexterity is a stat that’s fairly common in most player builds, as, generally, those taking on a Souls-like game love a bit of movement and maneuverability.
Even those that earned the platinum trophy in the original Demon’s Souls will want to check it out. Exploring Demon’s Souls’ world, the ruined kingdom of Boletaria, is immensely rewarding, with players constantly finding helpful items whenever they stray off the beaten path. On the surface, the game world may seem like there’s not all that much going on, but the more players die and repeat the same sections over and over again, the more secrets and shortcuts they will find. The PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls retains one of the original’s more complex gameplay systems and it remains just as enigmatic.
Players can level up using collected souls via the Maiden in Black character in the Nexus. This is unlocked after defeating the first boss of Boletaria Palace. Players will find conquering the dark, hostile world of Demon’s Souls a challenge, but a highly rewarding one; with deep, satisfying combat, unforgettable enemies and an extraordinary landscape to explore. Experience the original brutal challenge, completely remade from the ground up. All presented in stunning visual quality with enhanced performance, this is the world of Boletaria as you have never seen it before.
If there are a few Enemies left after the dragon attack, go past them and position yourself at the other end of the bridge and take them 1 by 1. The dragon will appear again and unleash his fire attack again, so if it catches you mid-bridge you will die. To fight him, try to rush and position yourself far from the void to avoid falling. On SC88 , you will find another Boletaria Soldier wielding a crossbow. Eliminate him and there is also another lootable body there containing x2 Late Moon Grass. Go up the stairs and once on top of them, turn to your left and keep going until you reach the little wooden bridge.

It’s a more gothic layout – a creative flourish that sees spikes line its walls and spires, adorned with blue flags. Equally though, it’s an art design choice on Bluepoint’s behalf that creates a brighter, richer, and more saturated courtyard. There is still a lot of charm to the PS3 version’s gloomy, green-tinged aesthetic, but these are art assets built to the technical limitations of the era. PlayStation 5 is capable of so much more, so the goal posts shift – aiming for a more ambitious target in terms of detail.
The change to the heads-up display or HUD and the user-interface or UI is something that the Demon’s Souls community has been up in arms about since the remake’s release in late 2020. Some fans believe that the lack of item names and modernization of many of the design elements take away from the immersion of the game. Others feel it’s an upgrade that modernizes the game in the right way and makes it look much more accessible to gamers who didn’t experience the original game back in 2009 on the PS3. An easy improvement Bluepoint Games was able to do is re-record all of the dialogue and music in the game.

It’s that gorgeous, modern, big-budget presentation that may cause a sense of friction with players who will experience Demon’s Souls for the first time, or will do so in the context of FromSoftware’s subsequent games. Games like Dark Souls refined the formula established by Demon’s Souls, while Bloodborne and Sekiro streamlined it further. Reverting to the hallowed ground of Demon’s Souls, and its experimental and quirky gameplay rules, may feel at odds with its looks. For example, the miners in Stonefang Tunnel are weak to piercing weapons like rapiers, and Phalanx is weak to fire (hence why you get so many firebombs in the game’s first level). I recommend carrying a shield at almost all times, in order to defend yourself and parry blows. If you’re playing as Royalty, you’ll start with a catalyst (a magic wand, basically), but if you didn’t and want to cast magic spells like fireballs, you’ll need to buy or find one.
I’ve spent well over 30 hours with this game and I’m sure I’ll be spending four times that on subsequent playthroughs in the months to come. It’s almost everything a fan or newcomer could hope for, with just a handful of things played too safe keeping it from sheer perfection. When it was first revealed, the long-rumored Demon’s Souls remake was met with great enthusiasm, including from me. The original game’s servers are down and it remains trapped on the PS3. This is a special title, something of a cult classic that helped spawn the entire “Souls” franchise (and genre) and elevated FromSoftware’s name with spiritual successors in Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
